1、Chemical Composition of Dendrobium Nobile
Over the past two decades, scholars worldwide have explored and studied the chemical composition of Dendrobium plants, discovering that these plants contain a diverse array of chemical components.
The chemical constituents of Dendrobium Nobile primarily include alkaloids, polysaccharides, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, sesquiterpenes, coumarins, and steroidal glycosides, among which dendrobium alkaloids are its characteristic constituents.

1.1 Alkaloids
Alkaloids were the first compounds to be isolated and structurally identified from Dendrobium plants, and are also characteristic components of orchidaceous plants.
1.2 Polysaccharides
The chemical structure of Dendrobium Nobile polysaccharides includes the sequence of monosaccharide residues, the composition of monosaccharide residues, the linkage between adjacent sugar residues, the configuration of the anomeric carbon, and the branching of the sugar chain.
1.3 Phenolic compounds
Currently, 13 phenolic compounds, 15 benzyl compounds, 8 phenanthrene compounds, and 2 furanone compounds have been isolated from Dendrobium Nobile.
1.4 Tannin compounds
Modern pharmacological research has shown that tannins have multiple biological activities, including antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, antitumour, and gastrointestinal motility inhibition.
Dendrobium Nobile has the highest content, while Layered Sheath Dendrobium and Fringe Dendrobium have similar contents.
2、Research on the pharmacological effects of Dendrobium Nobile
The pharmacological effects of Dendrobium Nobile are mainly manifested in its effects on the cardiovascular system, nervous system, anti-tumour and anti-mutagenic effects, antioxidant and anti-ageing effects, anti-cataract effects, as well as immune suppression, calcium channel inhibition, anti-inflammatory effects, and effects on the gastrointestinal tract.
